The Farmer’s Rail Review: Great Burgers in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio

Whenever visiting Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, The Farmer’s Rail is our go-to lunch or dinner destination. The burgers there are exceptional, made with sustainable, pasture-raised meats from Brunty Farms in Ashland, Ohio, and the quality is evident in every bite. Whether beef, poultry, or pork, the meat is always fresh and delicious.

Our first visit to The Farmer’s Rail goes back to when we took a trip to the Akron Zoo. We decided to stay in beautiful Cuyahoga Falls at the Sheraton so we could enjoy the scenic river and waterfalls in the area. While strolling down Front Street, we stumbled upon The Farmer’s Rail.

At the time, the restaurant was primarily a butcher shop with a small café, and after learning that all their meat came from a local farm, we couldn’t resist giving their burgers a try. It was an instant hit.

On our most recent visit, we noticed that the butcher shop had been revamped. The space that was once filled with cuts of meat and fresh produce now features just a few refrigerated cases stocked with meats and cheeses. But the big change was in the restaurant itself, which has expanded significantly.

The new space is airy and inviting, offering a larger dining area while still maintaining the cozy, welcoming atmosphere we love.

Burger Review

Each of their burgers is crafted with two perfectly cooked Brunty Farms ground beef patties. The result? A juicy, flavorful burger with crispy edges and a tender middle that keeps us coming back every time.

The menu is refreshingly simple, with a few great topping options that elevate the already amazing burgers. Our go-to is the T-F-R Burger, a classic that’s topped with American cheese, house-made pickles, caramelized onions (which we skip), and their signature house burger sauce, all nestled between a soft brioche bun. It’s comfort food at its best.

Another favorite is the Mushroom + Swiss Burger, which pairs two Brunty Farms beef patties with Guggisberg baby Swiss cheese, caramelized onions, and mushrooms. It’s a rich and savory combo that never disappoints.

Both burgers come with House Fries—crispy fries tossed in rosemary, garlic, and Parmesan, and served with either roasted garlic aioli or ketchup. While I’ve never been one to put mayo on my fries, the roasted garlic aioli is an absolute must-try. It adds a burst of flavor that takes the fries to the next level.

Juicy hamburgers served with rosemary and garlic fries or a side salad.

If you’re in the mood for something a little different, you can swap the regular fries for sweet potato fries, which are served with a maple cinnamon dip (just as amazing as it sounds!). Alternatively, a fresh side salad with local greens, cheddar cheese, heirloom cherry tomatoes, and cucumbers is also available if you’re looking for something lighter.

Final Thoughts – The Farmers Rail Review

No matter what we order, the meal at The Farmer’s Rail is always satisfying. We leave feeling full and content, never disappointed.

After lunch, we enjoy a peaceful walk along the river that runs just behind the restaurant—an ideal way to end the meal and take in the natural beauty of Cuyahoga Falls. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, this place is a must-visit!
